Lead with your Why.

Tapping into your motivation will help you communicate your why from a place of authenticity and attract the right clients.

As entrepreneurs we are wired differently. We are driven to do something bigger, to change the status quo, to share our gifts with the world, and to have a lasting impact.

Just change the world, right? No biggie!

You didn’t choose this path because it was easier, you chose it for a deeper, more meaningful reason. You will find yourself up against the “doubters”, the “get a real jobers” and the “critics”, so how do you stay aligned with your vision?

Start by tapping into your underlying motivations for what you do every day.

You need to look closely at why you do what you do. Ask yourself what drove you to start this business when you could have been doing anything else. And if you’ve been in business for a while, think about whether your motivations have changed.

When you are connected to why you started your business, you can communicate about it from a place of authenticity.

Your why helps determine the look and feel of your brand; it helps guide your messaging and positioning; and most importantly, it helps your customers connect with what it is that you do best.

Use your why as a measuring stick against everything you do in your business and every opportunity that comes your way. As yourself “does this get me closer to my goal or further?”

If the answer is closer, then you’re on the right track. If the answer is further, then it’s a no.

Easier said than done I know.

In essence, your why is a combination of two things: the contribution you want to make and the impact you want to have on the world.

This requires asking through-provoking questions and digging deeper than you've ever dug before. And it isn't easy to do it alone.

This year I’ve had the amazing honour of working with dozens of entrepreneurs through Brand Camp and part of this process is to craft powerful why statements together. I wanted to share a few of them with you to help you tap into something deeper within you.
