From Business Sale to Brand Rebirth: The Julie Ellis Story

A Founder's Guide to Life After Selling Your Business

Julie Ellis's entrepreneurial journey is a testament to the power of tenacity, resilience, and reinvention.

After co-founding the wildly successful Mabel’s Labels and then selling the business to a major industry player, Julie wasn’t prepared for the emotional rollercoaster post-sale.

She found herself struggling to answer the question “what’s next?”. She felt alone and directionless.

Once Julie was able to get herself off her couch (several years later), she spent time trying to understand why Mabel’s Labels was so successful. She came to the realisation that growing a business to 8-figures was easier with a group of growth-minded women around her.

It was this insight that led her to start her coaching business helping other women get connected, solve problems, and grow bigger businesses, reaching their own big gorgeous goals.

Her story is not just inspiring—it's a blueprint for any founder navigating the "what's next" after achieving significant business milestones.

While building her coaching business, Julie invested in becoming a keynote speaker and writing a book. In the process of, she ended up with a separate brand and website for the book. Her digital presence became split between two different color palettes, logos, and messaging strategies that failed to communicate her essence or her new direction effectively.

Julie was living a double life online.

Recognizing the need for alignment and clarity, Julie turned to us. Our first step was to dive deep into Brand Camp, where we helped Julie crystalize her messaging and define what makes her different from every other coach, author and speaker.

Together, we crafted a tagline that perfectly captures her approach: "Gorgeous Goals. Graceful Growth." This alliteration was not only catchy but also meaningful, reflecting Julie's book title “Big Gorgeous Goals” and her history as a dancer and her vision that the entrepreneurial journey can be filled with joy and purpose.

Julie's target audience—7-figure women entrepreneurs aspiring to 8-figures—needed guidance that was both strategic and empathetic.  Her positioning statement, "Guiding 7-figure women entrepreneurs as they dance their way to 8-figures," was a nod to Julie's unique blend of business savvy and personal warmth.

This message is a beacon for her ideal clients, signaling that growth doesn't have to be grueling—it can be graceful.

With Julie's messaging refined, the next step was to visually merge her personal brand with her book's brand into a cohesive visual identity.

We updated her logo to reflect her newfound focus and selected a colour palette that bridged her two worlds. This visual harmony was extended to her new podcast, "Figure 8”.

“You were able to translate my vision, bring together all my disparate pieces and make something gorgeous and meaningful!"

The culmination of our collaboration was a redesigned website that truly represents Julie—the entrepreneur, the coach, the speaker, and the author.

Integrating her fresh brand identity, updated messaging, and stunning new photography, the website is now a single, cohesive digital home that showcases all facets of Julie's work.

This transformation goes beyond a new logo or website. It's about the journey from uncertainty to purpose, from fragmentation to unity.

Julie’s brand now reflects her mission to increase the number of successful 8-figure women-owned businesses and inspire future generations of leaders.

The response to Julie's new brand has been overwhelmingly positive. Comments from her community highlight the impact of her reinvented presence—inspiring, clear, and undeniably Julie. This feedback is a testament to the power of a brand that truly resonates.
